The police say the Takoradi woman in the alleged fake pregnancy and kidnap saga has been granted a bail of ¢50,000.
Josephine Panyin Mensah, 27, making her first appearance at the Takoradi Circuit Court on Monday, was also asked to provide two sureties.
Josephine was charged with deceiving public officers and publication of false news to put fear in public.
But presenting their case, the accused person pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The lead counsel of the suspect, Philip Fiifi Buckman, argued that his client has already spent some days in police custody. He, therefore, prayed the court to grant his client bail.
After hearing both arguments, the court presided over by Michael Cudjoe granted the plea of the suspect.
Addressing the media after the proceedings, Mr Buckman said the charges levelled against his client are misdemeanours.
He explained that "even if she [the suspect] is found guilty she will not be sentenced not more than six months."
Police in the Western Region responded to a distress call when it was reported that Josephine, supposedly pregnant at the time, had gone missing after an early morning walk on Thursday, September 16.
This sent the town into a frenzy, igniting sentiments about her possible whereabouts and safety.
Following her reappearance in Axim on September 21, police investigations pointed to an allegedly deliberate orchestration of the whole incident.
Some three others were arrested for questioning.
Upon further interrogations and medical examination at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, which returned negative, the victim admitted to the crime.
A section of Ghanaians say the turn of events is bizarre and wondered the rationale for it.
Meanwhile, the Head of Police Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori, in an interview on JoyNews' on Friday, stressed that a thorough investigation is being carried out to attain the suspects' motives.
