Siemens, global technology in electrification is set to leverage on technology to create more jobs.
This, according to the Country Manager of Siemens Ghana, Edmund Acheampong, will be done through cutting edge technology aimed at addressing the increasing unemployment levels in the sub-region.
Speaking at the company’s Ghana Customer Day in Accra, he said Siemens is resolute in playing its role and contributing towards creating jobs and developing skills.
He noted that, Siemens is an avid supporter of science, engineering and technology therefore, as Ghana continues to make strides towards a better future, they will provide the needed cutting edge technology and solutions.
“With a heart to make a meaningful impact and to empower citizens in communities that the business operates, Siemens’ contribution to the Ghanaian economy goes beyond its business investments,” he added.
The Siemens Ghana boss cited how they have contributed to the socio-economic development of Ghana especially in the area of oil and gas to buttress his point.
“The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has received Automation and Training Equipment worth €25,000.00. Just last month, July 2019 Siemens handed over the refurbished ICT laboratory, fitted with 45 new computers to the Sekondi College. The equipment presented to these universities will afford students an opportunity to gain practical experience, and equip them in getting industry-ready,” Mr. Acheampong noted.
Mr. Acheampong bemoaned how Africa has not been benefited from its youthful population due to the inadequate technology.
“Africa’s workforce is young so there will be dire need for a digitally equipped labour force to utilise smart technologies of the future and Siemens is ready,” he stressed.
But as Ghana continues to make strides towards a better future, Mr. Acheampong assured that, “Siemens will be here to provide the needed cutting edge technology and solutions.”
The Siemens Customer Day on the theme: Technology as a catalyst for Business and Economic Development is the third in a row since 2017.
