Ghana’s authoritative news analysis programme, Newsfile, is set to return to the airwaves this Saturday, 4th April 2026, with a heavy-hitting agenda on the most topical issues within the week.
The four-hour broadcast, hosted by legal luminary Samson Lardy Anyenini, will go live from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon across the JoyNews and Joy FM platforms. The programme arrives at a time of heightened public scrutiny over government procurement and local governance accountability.
The ‘Big Push’ under the microscope
A central pillar of this weekend’s discussion will be the controversial "Big Push" initiative. The panel is expected to dissect the origins and motivations behind a newly launched probe into the sole-sourced contracts tied to the project.
Galamsey tax halted: Punishing the MMDCEs
In another major governance segment, the show will pivot to the illegal mining crisis following the government's decision to halt the contentious "Galamsey Tax", which was uncovered by a JoyNews documentary. The conversation is set to focus on the growing chorus of voices demanding the punishment of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Presidential dialogue post-mortem
The panellists will also scrutinise President John Mahama's recent engagements with civil society organisations and commitments made towards governance, accountability and developmental policies.
Sports in crisis: The Otto Addo debate
The final segment of the broadcast will shift focus to the national team, as the programme weighs in on whether the potential or actual sacking of Coach Otto Addo is justified. Following a string of mixed results for the Black Stars, the sports world remains divided on whether a change in technical leadership is the solution to Ghana's footballing woes or merely a scapegoating of the manager.
The broadcast will be available for streaming across all Joy digital platforms, including DStv and social media channels.
