One more person involved in the fatal accident at Antado near Komenda in Central Region is said to have died, bringing the death toll to 15.
Fourteen people were officially confirmed dead, Monday morning but eye witnesses claim 23 people died in the accident.
Several others who were severely injured in the accident are curently on admission at the Central Regional Hospital.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident- an articulated truck, a Sprinter Mini Bus and a Toyota Hilux Pick-up.
According to eyewitnesses, the articulated truck coming from Takoradi burst a tyre and in the process ran into the passenger Benz bus with about 23 people on board. The bus was on its way from Mankessim.
The cargo of the truck also fell on the Toyota Hilux but the two occupants of the Pickup escaped death.
Eyewitnesses initially pegged the number of deaths at 23 but the police confirmed 14 as the death toll to Joy News’ Central Regional correspondent, Richard Kwadwo Nyarko.
One of the drivers is said to be on life support.
The mangled vehicles have been towed and the road cleared to enhance vehicular movement, Kwadwo Nyarko reported.
