One person has been arrested in connection with the rape and robbery of two women in the Upper West Region, Monday.
The suspect was arrested on a motorbike said to have been used to commit the crime, Upper West Police Commander ASP Edward Nyamekye confirmed.
One person is still on the run, Nyamekye indicated.
The suspects were alleged to have attacked the victims at knife point, took all personal effects and allegedly raped one of them in a nearby bush after which they bolted on a motorbike.
The Upper West Region Police Commander told Joy News the police acted swiftly and within an hour after the attack was reported, they made the arrest.
The suspect was riding the same motorbike that was used in committing the crime.
He said the suspect will be charged and prosecuted for robbery as they continue investigations to arrest the other suspect.
ASP Nyamekye assured residents in the region of their safety.
Some residents in an interaction with Joy News' Upper West Correspondent, Rafik Salam raised concerns about their security following some robberies that have gone on in the area.
But ASP Nyamekye quickly debunked that perception, saying Upper West is the "most peaceful region in the country."
He said the robberies are isolated cases and must not be generalised to create fear and panic in the area.
