Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in Luanda, Angola, representing President John Mahama at the 7th African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Summit.
While there, she will highlight Ghana’s commitment to equitable, forward-looking partnerships between Africa and Europe—built on mutual respect, shared prosperity, and strategic cooperation.
Her engagements will involve Heads of State, AU and EU leaders, and global stakeholders.
Over the next two days, the Vice President is expected to outline Ghana’s key priorities, including economic stability, job creation, and food security. She will also speak on the country’s efforts toward climate resilience, peace and security, and value-chain transformation—particularly in agriculture and cocoa.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang will further highlight Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery and structural reforms, emphasising the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy, expanded infrastructure under the Big Push Initiative, strengthened agricultural financing, and women’s empowerment through the Women’s Development Bank.
The 7th AU–EU Summit, scheduled for November 24–25, 2025, brings together Heads of State and Government from African Union and European Union Member States to reaffirm their long-standing partnership and chart a renewed path of cooperation.
It will be co-chaired by Angolan President João Lourenço and the Chairperson of the African Union.
The Summit is taking place at a time of global uncertainty and shifting geopolitical dynamics, offering both continents an opportunity to reaffirm their shared commitment to multilateralism, solidarity, and joint action to address common challenges.
