Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has announced that Members of Parliament (MPs) found guilty of misconduct during the ministerial vetting on Thursday will be surcharged for damages caused.
The announcement came as the Speaker established a special committee to investigate the disturbances that erupted on Thursday, January 30, and to hold accountable those responsible for the disorder.
Alban Bagbin has already suspended four lawmakers for two weeks as part of immediate disciplinary measures.
The affected MPs include Majority Chief Whip Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, as well as Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaibu - both of the NPP.

The special committee, chaired by Ho West MP Emmanuel Bedzrah, has been tasked with identifying individuals involved in the disruptions and recommending appropriate actions.
Addressing the House, Speaker Bagbin stressed that no public funds would be used to repair items damaged during the altercations.
Instead, MPs found culpable will bear the financial burden of repairs through surcharges.
