Musician Nanky has sent a humble plea to the organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards; Charter House to give more support to artists who emerge winners in the ‘Unsung Category’ of the scheme.
Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, the winner of the Unsung Category at the 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards said that he was neglected by the VGMAs after grabbing that honour.
According to him, he expected the scheme to give him more platforms to grow as a budding artist striving to attain success in Ghana.
“They have the power to do whatever. They can do whatever it takes to blow an artiste. It will just be nice and beautiful for them to round up the whole thing.”
Nanky, who is currently promoting his new song, ‘King Solomon’, said he is very grateful for the platform he was given by the VGMA. He however, went ahead to plead for other artistes who will eventually emerge winners in that particular category of the award scheme.
“I am very grateful but I am just pleading that if they could do that for other artistes it would be very cool. Some artistes are struggling to get their names out there and this would be one of the best platforms for them to grow,” he said.
The Cassette hitmaker gives a lot of credit to his team for believing in him and still putting in all the work to make sure that he has a very successful career.
“As for me I am always on the road and my management is always working. Not all artistes have a solid team like I do. And some artistes are under a lot of pressure.”
Nanky beat the likes of Queendalyn Yurglee, Naana Blu, Malcolm Nuna, Oseikrom Sikanii, Adelaide the Seer Koby Tuesday, and Kwame Yogot to emerge winner of the Unsung Category in 2021.
The Tema-based artiste has released songs like ‘Favour’ Ft Sarkodie, ‘Lady’, ‘Quansimah’, ‘Happiness’, ‘Remedy’, ‘Rain Over Me’, ‘Munafiki’, ‘Innocent Girl’, ‘I Do Yawa’, as well as ‘Love and Confusion’ Ft Medikal.
