Ghana Football Association boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed how his club, Wa All Stars' participation in CAF inter-club competition almost made him broke.
All Stars qualified to feature in the Champions League for the first time last season after winning the Ghana Premier League title in 2016 but suffered a first-round exit at the hands of Libyan side Al Hilal.

And Nyantakyi, responding to criticisms that Ghanaian clubs struggle to perform in Africa, said the costs involved take a toll on the teams, using himself as an example.
“Playing in Africa is very difficult, it comes at a huge cost,” he told to the media.
“I almost went bankrupt when my team WA All Stars was playing in the CAF Champions League."
“Just one trip alone will cost you thousands of dollars, and so it is important for government and the FA to come to the aid of Clubs in Africa."
“In many countries, the government supports Clubs participating in Africa.”
The Ghana FA supported Aduana Stars' campaign this year with $30,000. The Dormaa-based club are in playoffs stage of Confederation Cup.
