The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng says the Office of the Special Prosecutor does not operate in a military style unless it is compelled to.

He, however, said the office hardly operates in that manner.

“We do not conduct ourselves in a military style. I am saying that if you give us the cause, we will come for you. If you give us the cause, we will storm your premises,” he said.

The Special Prosecutor’s comment comes after his office securing a court order to arrest the former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue.

This order was secured after Mr Bissue failed to honour an invitation by the Special Prosecutor last month.

The OSP, on May 3, wrote to Mr. Bissue informing him he was a necessary person for the investigation into the activities of the IMCIM.

However, the lawyer of Mr Bissue says despite the issuance of the court order for his client’s arrest, he will not be turning himself in.

The lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, explained that this is not because his client is on the run but that the arrest warrant was improperly secured.

Reacting to this, the Special Prosecutor said going for an arrest warrant from the court cannot count for a military style approach, and that the office should rather be applauded for following legal processes.

According to Mr Agyebeng, in certain instances, he restricts himself from exercising the powers of the office.

He added that the OSP also treats people with civility.

This, he explained is because “of the reputation of people. You might stigmatise them, you might destroy their reputations, and that is why when the Professor was directed to show up, we didn’t say anything ... he published the receipt.”

Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor has warned that his office will go after anyone against whom corruption or corruption-related allegations are made.

According to him, if there are allegations of corruption against any member of the public, he will investigate the allegation thoroughly rather than turn a blind eye to it.

Speaking on the same show, the Special Prosecutor noted that “If there are accusations against you that you have seized excavators and (you are) unable to account for it, I won’t sleep over it, I will come after you.”

“If there are allegations that you mismanaged the resources of the committee, I won’t sleep over it. I will come after you,” he pointed out.
