A group of traders in the Kumasi Metropolis has refuted claims of apologizing and throwing their support behind John Dramani Mahama for the 2024 Presidential election.
According to spokesperson for the traders, Michael Amponsah, reports circulating in the media indicating their support during the NDC’s women's manifesto launch in Kumasi is untrue and has no merit.
He stated that leaders of the markets in Kumasi did not send any representative to the NDC's launch and therefore called on the general public to disregard such information.
"We heard someone has apologized to Mahama and his NDC stating that we sent her from this market. We want to make it clear to all of you and the media present here that we didn't send anyone to the NDC's programme at KNUST to speak for us. We have never apologized to Mahama and can never do that to betray the NPP," he said at a press conference.
Queen mother for the traders in the various markets in Kumasi, Nana Yaa Fowaa, lauded the performance of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the markets and pledged their support for the party in the upcoming election.
"As a Queen mother and head of all the markets in Kejetia, Central Market, Racecourse and Abenkyi, I have seen the good works of President Nana Addo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Madam Frema Opare and Chairman Wontumi.
"We as traders of these markets pledge our support for the NPP and Bawumia, we will never betray NPP for the good works they have done for us to join NDC," she said.
