A poor widow with nine children of whom four are blind, is appealing to the public to come to her aid in and help her children to regain their sight.
Koshua Amewuda who lives in a village called Kove in the Akatsi North district of the Volta Region, says taking care of four visually impaired children all by herself, is too much a burden.
She told Joy News correspondent, Ivy Seetordji, she had had to endure all sorts of name calling from people in the community, because of her predicament.
The Assembly has sponsored two of the children to undergo surgery to help correct their sights.
James Gunu, District Chief Executive for the area says the two are "responding well" to treatment. Mr. Gunu however, appealed for help from benevolent organisations and individuals to support the Assembly's efforts to restore the sights for all four children.
"The reaction of the people in the community towards them is one major challenge they are facing," Mr. Gunu said while calling for urgent help for the other two.
