Two persons have been injured after some unidentified men opened fire on electorates at a polling station in the Awutu Senya East constituency in the Central Region.
Speaking to JoyNews’ Bernice Abu-Baidoo, correspondent Kofi Agyei said the perpetrators were aiming for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Phyllis Koryoo Okunor.
However, their attempts to cause to harm the candidate were unsuccessful.

An eyewitness told Joy News the men had come in a black Land Cruiser SUV. They stopped in front of a KIA saloon car occupied by their victims and started shooting.
“The men were using AK47. I know that from what the police use every day, it is similar to that."
"We had to run for our lives. We didn’t know where to go and as we speak now there is confusion everywhere,” he said.
Unfortunately, two out of five people in the KIA saloon car sustained injuries.

JoyNews’ Kofi Agyei stated that the injured persons have been sent to the hospital.
Meanwhile, because of the incident, many voters have left the centre for fear of getting shot.
In a press statement the police stated that preliminary investigations show that the gun men pretended they were looking for information from the occupants in the KIA car.
They explained that the case is currently under investigation urging anyone with information on their whereabouts should report to the police.
