The Upper West Regional Health Service has revealed that 20 out of the 22 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the region have recovered and have been integrated into their communities.
The Acting Regional Director, Dr Damien Pungyiri made this disclosure when Vodafone Ghana Foundation donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), sanitary items and spinal needles to support the fight against Covid-19 and cerebrospinal meningitis in the region.
He noted that despite the success chalked, aggressive contact tracing is still ongoing hence, some 2000 samples have been sent for testing and they are currently waiting for those results.
He added that the remaining two are still responding to treatment.
On his part, the Upper West Zonal manager of Vodafone Ghana, Godfred Kwei Blankson who donated the items on behalf of Foundation said the gesture is to complement government's the efforts in fighting Covid-19 pandemic and cerebrospinal meningitis that has claimed the lives of 45 persons in the region.
He also commended the frontline health workers in the region and the country adding that the donation will serve as a motivation for them to work harder.
Receiving the donation, Acting Medical Superintendent of the Upper West Regional Hospital, Dr Robert Amesiye expressed profound gratitude to the Foundation.
