Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey, will miss Ghana’s final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic.
The GFA said the 30-year-old sustained a groin injury during training with the Gunners and will be out for a couple of weeks.
Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, named his 25-man squad for the September 7 match in Kumasi without Partey.
A statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said, “Arsenal ace Thomas Partey is left out of the squad due to injury. According to his club, the player picked up an injury in training and could be on the sidelines for a while, however the Black Stars medical team is monitoring the situation”.
A follow up statement statements add that “he sustained a groin injury during training on Thursday, August 31, 2023. He is currently unavailable as Club Doctors predict he's likely to be out for a couple of weeks”.
Ghana will host Central Africa Republic in their final Group E game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
The Black Stars need a point from the game to book qualification for the tournament to be held in Ivory Coast next January.
