Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has promised the rest of Africa that the 2023 African Games to be hosted in the West African country will be a happy and exciting month.
The competition started on Monday, March 4 and will conclude on March 2023.
Speaking at Ghana’s 67th Independence Day Anniversary Parade in Koforidua on Wednesday, the president expressed hope that Ghana will set another example for Africa to follow with the hosting of the games.
“I’m not promising a Ghana clean sweep in the track and field events. That will be a miracle.
“I’m promising a happy and exciting month for all our visitors. We in Ghana know how to set the lead; we did it in 1957 when we were the first African nation in Sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence from colonial bondage.
“We owe it to ourselves and to the rest of Africa to be that shining Black Star.”
Team Ghana has not had a great start to the 2023 African Games, with no medal for the host nation after four days of competition, especially in tennis where medals have been won already.
