It has emerged that New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Morrison will still contest the 2024 election as an independent candidate.
It comes on the back of rife reports about the former Gender Minister rescinding her decision after the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin declared her seat and three others vacant.
Photos of the MP together with Efuttu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markins, Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong and other NPP MPs have gone viral after Speaker Bagbin indefinitely suspended sitting on Tuesday.
However, a statement issued by her office said the reports are false and do not reflect Madam Morrison’s current position or intentions.
The statement explained that, Madam Morrison remains committed to serving her people and has not made any decision to withdraw her candidature.
“Any claims suggesting otherwise are attempts to distort the facts and misinform the public.
“We urge the media and the general public to disregard these baseless claims and rely only on official statements and verified sources for accurate information,” the statement read in parts.
