A significant number of Ghanaians say they would use the performance of their Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to determine their vote in the 2020 presidential polls.
While about 51% of participants in the survey conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana said, they would not link their choice of a president to the failure of the MMDCEs, 9.1% claim they have not decided on the matter.
With a sample size of 27,166, the survey sought to focus on MMDCEs in order to establish the degree of their impact on the decentralisation process.
It also assessed, from the perspective of citizens, the extent to which the MMDCEs have performed their functions that is, how they have engaged various actors to promote local development.
