While the Finance Minister has asked Parliament to approve some tax increases, a caller on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show has revealed his pain in trying to pay property rates.
John, from La Dade-Kotopon, in his reaction to the Finance Minister’s announcement, disclosed that for three months, he has gone to the Municipal Assembly’s office to pay his property tax but is always told the officer in charge is not there.
“We go there once every week for the past three months but there is no officer available to collect it and they want to impose more,” John quizzed, adding that “the government should sit up.”

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta in his budget review in Parliament on Monday appealed to the House to approve tax increases in some sectors of the economy.
Areas affected include petroleum products and telecommunication services.
