The West African Examinations Council (WEAC) has released the results of the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
However, a total of 2,497 subject results have been withheld by the Council; pending investigations of malpractice by affected candidates during the examinations.
Also, 173 candidates have had a subject result out-rightly cancelled “for bringing foreign material into the examination hall.”
“Nineteen candidates had their entire results cancelled for bringing mobile phones into the hall,” WAEC wrote in a statement.
According to the examination governing body, a total of 517,331 made up of 263,602 males and 253,729 females sat for the examination.
This, WAEC said is 1.47% higher than that of 2018.
