The Finance Minister's statement to Parliament on plans to deal with the Convid-19 was postponed this morning because President Akufo-Addo will address the nation tonight.
According to Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Ken Ofori Atta's statement to the House will only be necessary if there are issues to be addressed after the address.
Addressing the House on Friday, he said: " he was supposed to be here today, but he cannot speak ahead of the President, so he has to wait [until the President has addressed the nation]."
He further indicated that if the President's address has no compelling information, then Mr Ofori-Atta will address the House on Monday, March 30.
President Akufo-Addo's statement today will be the fourth address to the nation on the update of the COVID-19 cases.
In previous televised addresses, the President ordered the suspension of all social gatherings, including mosque and church services, and all educational activities.
He subsequently, announced the closure of all borders effective, March 22, 2020, and directed that people who came in the country after that be mandatorily quarantined.
Currently, 78 out of the 1,030 people who were quarantined have tested positive for the virus.
