Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that a team made up of police, military personnel, public health agents and epidemiologists have been deployed to areas outside of the locked-down communities in Greater Accra and in Kumasi.
He said that such personnel have been assigned to continue contact tracing and testing outside of locked down hotspots in Accra and Kumasi.
Speaking with on a JoyNews' Lockdown Special programme, Sunday, he said "if any person from the first cohort of people who have been either tested or traced have moved out of the locked-down hotspots in the last 24 hours, they will be traced because of the measures put in place outside the locked-down areas.
“The programme has been, to have teams to trace outside Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi.”
“So the teams that are responsible for the tracing and testing are not just limited to Greater Accra and greater Kumasi. They have also been designated with the right kit so that they would be able to primarily do the contact tracing of persons," he said.
“Where we are now is to test, test, test. If we had a million test kits, we’d test a million people and that's the way you can go after the virus and not wait for people to pop up and show up with it," he continued.
