Tanzania's health ministry has announced the country's biggest rise in coronavirus cases so far as it confirmed 29 new cases.
Of the number, 26 cases were detected in the commercial hub, Dar es Salaam, two in the north-western town of Mwanza and one in Kilimanjaro area north of the country.
On Wednesday, the health ministry in the semi-autonomous islands of Zanzibar announced six new cases - also the biggest rise in the archipelago since the outbreak of the virus.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Tanzania now stands at 88.
Unlike many of its East African neighbours, the country has not restricted movement but has imposed measures limiting some public gatherings.
Parliament Speaker Job Ndugai has said European-style measures of fighting coronavirus, such as lockdown, risk harming people in Tanzania.
