Waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd on Thursday disinfected the campuses of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, the Ghana Technology University College, the University of Health and Allied Sciences, the University of Education Winneba, among others.
The Vector Control Unit of the waste management company also carried out the disinfection exercise at the Koforidua Technical University and University of Mines and Technology on Thursday.
Alreadly, Zoomlion has carried out similar exercises in some public and private universities including the University of Ghana, Central University and the University of Professional Studies.

Coordinator for Voluntary Disinfection Exercise, Lola Asiseh Ashitey, said the disinfection was aimed at ensuring that when students return to the lecture halls after the coronavirus scourge, they can learn in a safe environment.
“We have already mentioned that we will stop at nothing to make sure that surfaces in all public universities are made clean and conducive for students so that when this thing also ends students can come to school and feel free and save to learn,” she said.
After the exercise at the University of Mines and Technology, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jerry Samuel Yaw Kuma, commended Zoomlion Ghana Limited for disinfecting the entire UMaT campus at no cost to the university at the height of fears of Covid-19 infections in the country.
“Collaborating with government is the work all and sundry must do, and therefore we thank Zoomlion and for showing this kind of commitment to partner government to make things work. It is also an indication for all Ghanaians that we should take all the precautions and protocols that we have been given through government from the World Health Organisation seriously, thus Social Distancing, washing of hands and others because this virus can affect all persons,” he said.

Rector of Koforidua Technical University, Prof. David Essumang, also expressed ratitude to Zoomlion for disinfecting the university at no cost which will make the campus safe when academic activities resumes.
He urged the general public to adhere to all safety measures to ensure that the virus is contained and eliminated.
The fumigation of university campuses is an initiative between Zoomlion in partnership with Citi TV.
