The New Patriotic Party has suspended one of its parliamentary aspirants in the Nalerigu/Gambaga constituency of the North East region.
A letter signed by the party's regional chairman, accused the aspirant, Peter Wuni Baaga, of misconducting himself by making false allegations on radio against some of the regional executives and the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Alimah Mahama.
Mr. Baaga who is also a Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NaDMO) during an interview with Tizaa radio in Nalerigu, amongst others things, accused the constituency chairman, the MCE and other executives of using monies they acquired from selling smuggled fertilizers and other inputs meant for farmers under the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, to bribe delegates in favour of Hajia Mahama.

JoyNews has listened and independently confirmed the interview aired on Tuesday, May 12, in which the former DCE for the area also claimed that the Madam Mahama who is also the Local Government and Rural Development Minister, did not win the 2016 parliamentary elections fairly.
He further accused the Minister of inciting party members against the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.
But speaking to JoyNews, Mr. Baaga who also confirmed the interview said he was responding to an earlier interview granted by Hajia Mahama suggesting he had stolen monies meant for construction projects for the Nalerigu Nursing College while he was in office as District Chief Executive.

However, in the letter announcing his indefinite suspension from the party, the Regional Chairman, Fuseini Nurudeen, said the utterances were in breach of Article 4(7) of the party's constitution and the general guidelines governing the parliamentary primaries issued by the General Secretary of the party.
The aspirant has since been directed to appear before the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
He has also been asked to cease all campaign activities until a determination by the Committee.
But Mr. Baaga tells JoyNews, the suspension is biased and illegal and he is ready to fight it in any way he can.
