Former President John Mahama has waded into the cartoon brouhaha involving the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.
The former President who did not comment directly on the George Floyd-EC cartoon artwork, the centre of the controversy appears to suggest that those criticising the NDC communicator were engaged in double standards.

The National Communications Officer of the opposition NDC Sammy Gyamfi on Tuesday, June 2 received massive backlash from social media users over a photo he posted on Twitter.
The photo, which makes reference to the murder of an African-American man, George Floyd, was in protest to the Electoral Commission’s compilation of a new voters’ roll.
While the EC Chairperson Jean Mensa is seen in the cartoon kneeling on a book placed on the neck of a handcuffed man, President Akufo-Addo was potrayed kneeling on the man as well.
Social media users including Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie asked the outspoken politician to take the post down, but Mr. Gyamfi was adamant.
The firebrand politician, in response to the backlash, insists the post was not a mockery of the racist killing of George Floyd in the US.
Naa my brother we all go wrong sometimes... I will believe your intention wasn’t to joke with these serious n very sensitive issues, but you still wrong just do what’s right.... retract n take it down https://t.co/4Dopst4wLT

He maintains the artwork was to make current happening back in Ghana more relatable.
