Residents of Ampatia, a community near Kumasi, are in shock after a pastor's wife was stabbed to death and his daughter severely injured during a robbery attack.

Francis Adusei's, pregnant wife, Juliana Adusei, died from multiple knife wounds while his six-year-old daughter is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching.

This was after the family was attacked by three armed and masked men last Saturday. They made away with $1000.

Sources say the 31-year-old woman who was seven months pregnant died when the armed men reportedly stabbed her when she attempted to save her daughter.

Mrs Adusei was trying to rescue her daughter from the grips of the assailants but ended up paying with her life.

The pastor, however, is reluctant to report the issue as he argues that previous victims of such attacks in the area never had justice.

According to him, the perpetrators remain untraced and other victims are not being told anything comforting.

The tragic incident brings to four the number of people, mainly, women who have died under similar circumstances in the area.

But Pastor Adusei believes opening up on his wife’s death will change nothing.

"I don't think this is the first time such an incident is happening here, in just a year at least four women have died in such heinous act so for me, I will not talk to anybody because it will not change anything," he said.

Although he is yet to come to terms with the situation, he said he will not speak on record during a visit to his residence.

The pastor said he feels let down by the security service in the country.

The angry residents who are living in fear say they feel unsafe as they continue to live in the community. 

A neighbour of the family told Luv News that "because of what the armed robbers did to sister Juli, I am always scared to sleep in my room so I have moved into another neighbour's house." 

She is appealing to government to beef up security in the area to save lives and property. 

Assemblymember for the area, James Sarfo blamed the heightening insecurity in the area on the poor road network that links the community to Santasi and other communities. 

"We have realised that the state of the roads is the major cause of the crime rate in this area because at first, the police patrol used to come here every night and dawn but now they have stopped because of the bad nature of the roads," he said. 

Meanwhile a police station constructed by the people at Ampatia through self-help remains unused. Residents want authorities to act to curb the menace.
