Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Sam George has described president Nana Akufo-Addo as “the chief agent of corruption in Ghana.”
According to him, a recent request by Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu for an Interpol Red Notice for Adam Mahama, brother of the former president is just a red herring.
A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
This, he said, is to take the shine off the goodwill the NDC has enjoyed after the announcement of Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang as John Mahama’s running mate.
He says the move was engineered from the Jubilee House to take attention off actual corruption practices by members of the Akufo-Addo administration.
The Special Prosecutor, Sam George, says is not interested in fighting corruption but rather acting at the pleasure of the president.
“He is simply working at the whims and caprices of his chief accomplice, the chief agent of corruption in Ghana, president Akufo-Addo,” the MP blurted out.

Speaking to journalists in parliament Friday, Mr. George said civil society groups have taken the likes of Deputy MASLOC CEO Abibata Shani Mahama Zakaria to CHRAJ for using state funds for personal gains.
He said if Mr Amidu was interested in fighting corruption, he would take such matters on instead of chasing former president Mahama’s brother over the Airbus allegations.
Stressing the innocence of Adam Mahama, Sam George said the aircraft manufacturing giant admitted to wrong doing by paying discounts in excesses of required percentage, a cross which Airbus should bear alone.
The scandal broke in February when a UK court fined Airbus $4million after they admitted their agents paid bribes to secure contracts in multiple jurisdictions.
The governing NPP and other groups have since accused former president Mahama and his brother of wrongdoing in the awarding of the contract to Airbus, an allegation John Mahama has denied.
