Kenya's interior ministry has denied the hospitalisation of minister Fred Matiang'i.
It said the information was "fake news" and urged the public to disregard.
Reports on social media had indicated that the minister was admitted to intensive care unit at a hospital in the capital, Nairobi.
The minister had been touring the country before the head of public service wrote to all ministries warning against non-essential travel.
Local media reported that several government officials had tested positive for coronavirus.
