A group of men, suspected to be robbers, has attacked a businessman and his wife at Juapong in the Volta region.
According to reports, the young man and his wife were returning home from their shop on Tuesday around 10:00 pm when the robbers accosted them; shooting the man dead and raping his wife at the scene.
The residents told Adom News’ Akua Qwaning that they rushed to the scene upon hearing the screams of the woman, however, upon arrival, the culprits had bolted.
They observed that no personal effects of the victims were stolen.
They, however, said several calls to the police were ignored with their excuse of "not having a vehicle at the station.”
The action of the police subsequently agitated the residents, causing the youth of Juapong to embarked on a mammoth demonstration.
They have as a result blocked the route connecting Ho to Atimpoku as a means to register their displeasure on how the matter has been handled.
