A former Deputy Information Minister under the Mahama administration has cautioned political opponents against undermining the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the NDC has revised its strategies towards winning the elections therefore political contenders who undermine them "will be shocked."
"2016 was an aberration. It's most unlikely to happen again because we have seen through what was essentially a charade by the NPP. We in the NDC have certainly learnt from the mistakes of 2016," he said.
Mr Kwakye was speaking on the Super Morning Show where he disclosed that the NDC will be coming up with new policies that will influence Ghanaians to vote for them.
"We have a policy platform that is vastly supervisor to what the NPP has to offer now, and we believe that those policy proposals go to the hearts of the expectations and aspirations of the people of Ghana.
"So on that basis, people will make electoral choices that will inure in the benefit of the NDC in this particular election," he said.
Former President John Dramani Mahama, on the ticket of the NDC, lost to President Akufo-Addo [on the ticket of the NPP] in the 2016 general elections.
Both parties under the same leadership, however, will be contesting in the upcoming December elections.
As the NPP hopes to win again, the NDC has also disclosed that it has measures put in place to recover its lost votes.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the NDC has learnt its lessons from the previous elections and will therefore be revising strategies to win back its lost margin.
"Many people tend to underestimate the NDC only because we lost by a heavy margin in 2016. What they forget is that we have won more elections than the NPP so we know how to do it.
"I'm unable to share with you the specifics of our strategy but anybody who underestimates the NDC will be left laughing at the wrong slide of their mouths.
"Different times bring different results so we are fully aware of what needs to be done in order to claw back lost grounds and we are going to do just that," he added.
