Firefighter and rescue team in the Western Regional capital spent over six hours trying to fight a fire outbreak around the Central business district.
The fire which gutted close to five shops is believed to have started at exactly 12 am Saturday.
"Unfortunately, I was in my room when I heard the sound. So I came out to look at what is happening and I saw the fire," a resident in the community shared.
He however added that efforts to get the fire service to quench the fire proved futile as it took the service over an hour to get to the scene.
"We tried to call the ambulance, the fire service but it was to no avail. We waited for about one and half hours before we saw the fire service arriving, he added.
Dozens of property and millions of cedis is believed to have been lost through the outbreak.
