The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II says women must be allowed to fully participate in Ghana’s democratic dispensation.
According to him, women are capable of running the affairs of the state efficiently and must be accorded the opportunity.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu made the call when the flagbearer for the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Bridget Dzogbenuku, paid a courtesy call on him, at the Manhyia Palace.
The visit by the flagbearer and her delegation was to introduce herself to the Asantehene as she begins her two-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
Addressing the group, Otumfuo Osei Tutu praised Madam Dzogbenuku for taking such a bold decision and urged other young females to follow in her footsteps.
He urged the leadership of the PPP to work hard to deliver on its campaign promises should the party win the December 2020 elections.
On her part, the flagbearer said the party was poised to deliver on all promises since it is founded on truth and integrity.
“We come in peace and truth. It’s time for the people of Ghana to accept that females can also work hard to develop the nation”, Madam Bridget Dzogbenuku added.
