South Africa's Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has caused an uproar after being filmed praying against Covid-19 "devil vaccines".
In a video shared widely on social media, the chief justice is seen praying against Covid-19 vaccines that "will corrupt DNA".
“I lock out any vaccine that is not of you ...If there be any vaccine that is of the devil, meant to infuse triple-six in the lives of people, meant to corrupt their DNA ... Any such vaccine, Lord God almighty, may it be destroyed by fire in the name of Jesus,” he prays.
His office has confirmed to local media that the film was taken at a public event.
A video of the prayer was shared by journalist Abongile Dumako:
Some South Africans online had had varied reactions to the prayer.
"Tell them Mogoeng-Mogoeng. Any evil products must be nipped in the bud and be eradicated. Bravo! We support the moral and conscious Chief Justice as he continues to castigate and expose evil and impunity in courts and also in the public. Run corrupt leaders run and never look back!" Masooa Motoai tweeted.
"The point of emphasis is that judges are not supposed to disclose their standing on certain issues because someday they might make a ruling on the same issues, and ultimately this goes against the doctrine of impartiality and unbiasedness," Vonani Maluleke tweeted.
