General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has alleged that former President John Dramani's election rigging claim is only a ploy to seek re-election in 2024.
John Boadu said the NDC flagbearer declared his intention to reject the results from the onset of the 2020 election period by constantly impugning the integrity of the Electoral Commission (EC).
"We all know that he is playing according to a script and we know that the purpose of his effusions is curt the sympathy of the NDC to put him up again as their presidential candidate in 2024," he said.
His comments come after Mr Mahama opposed the EC's declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the winner of the just-ended presidential elections.
Mr. Mahama has also described the elections as "fictionalised and flawed".
The NPP, however, insists it has won a clean mandate in the polls.
General Secretary for the party further indicated this is a tactic adopted by John Mahama to win the sympathy of his party.
"He said in 2012 that it is elementary politics and an old trick for people who know they are losing an election to seek to impune the integrity of the EC and that's exactly why he is doing," Mr Boadu said.
He further challenged the NDC to make a case in court if indeed it has evidence to back their claims of electoral malfeasance.
"The presidency is not his exclusive right to own. In 2012 we also felt cheated our presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo told his supporters that he didn't want one drop of Ghanaian blood to be shed for him to be president.
"In fact the NPP at it's council decided to seek redress but what is strange is the unwillingness of candidate Mahama to go to the appropriate forum to make his case," the politician added.
