Vice President of the incumbent government, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to rebuild the Kantamanto market following Monday's fire that destroyed several businesses and properties.
"We are going to look at how to assist. I'm calling a meeting on Friday at my office with the leadership to look at how to rebuild this market and also how we can provide some amount of support on the humanitarian basis initially," he stated.

According to him, at least two thousand five hundred and ninety-two individuals have directly been affected by the inferno, a situation that requires urgent attention.

"So many shops have been razed to the ground, it is a sad situation, people's livelihood, their day-to-day means of living have been taken away by this fire," he added.
Addressing the media during his visit, he added that his administration will look at how to provide capital to these shop owners to be able to re-start their businesses.
"There's going to be an investigation as to what has happened and why it has and that investigation will proceed," he added.

On Monday night, according to an eyewitness, the inferno started from a place close to the Agbogbloshie Market.
Hundreds and thousands of Ghana Cedis have been lost as the fire razed many shops, however, the cause of the fire still remains unknown.
