Rwanda Central Bank chief economist, Thomas Kigabo, has died of complications from Covid-19.
He died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Kenya's capital, Nairobi.
Mr Kigabo had been the chief economist at central bank for more than 10 years. He was also a university lecturer and preacher.
He is the first high profile government official to succumb to Covid-19 in the country.
Rwanda has so far recorded more than 10,000 cases of coronavirus with 133 deaths.
