Great Olympics moved up to second in the Ghana Premier League table with an impressive 3-1 win over King Faisal on Tuesday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Oly Dade boys secured victory despite being without their captain and star player Gladson Awako. He missed the game due to accumulation of three yellow cards.
The midfielder had contributed four goals and three assists, which was more than half of Olympics' tally (13 goals) prior to the match.
However, in his absence, other players stepped up for Olympics to claim the important three points against a side, that had staged a remarkable comeback in the previous matchday.
Olympics, who came into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Hearts of Oak in the Mantse derby, went ahead in the 40th minute through midfielder Charles Danson.
Samuel Ashie-Quaye doubled the lead five minutes after the halftime break. King Faisal were given a lifeline by Boateng Frimpong when he found the net in the 75th minute.
However, another midfielder Michael Yeboah sealed the win with an 82nd-minute strike.
The win extends Yaw Preko's unbeaten start to his career at Olympics. Since he was appointed on January 12, he has won three and drawn one of his four games.
For King Faisal, the defeat leaves them a place above the relegation zone but could end up there by the end of the matchday.
