Armed robbers have shot and killed a 25-year-old nurse on the Subinso-Nchiraa road in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.
Two others, who sustained various injuries are responding to treatment at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.
The driver of a taxi cab with registration number GW 4850 X, who was conveying the four passengers from Subinso to Nchiraa is in critical condition and has been referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi after he also got shot by the robbers in the head.

Narrating their ordeal 50-year-old mason, Ofosu Nuamah, said the incident occurred on Saturday evening between 7 and 8 pm when they were returning from Subinso to Nchiraa.
According to him, the robbers mounted a roadblock with motorbikes just about three miles before reaching Nchiraa.
He stated the armed robbers rushed to them in the middle of the road and started firing gunshots at them.

This he said, resulted in severe injuries to some passengers and the death of the nurse who works at the Nchiraa Health Center.
“My hand was at the top of the seat and one of the bullets penetrated it and hit the lady nurse, killing her instantly,” Ofosu Nuamah recounted.
He further added that a distress call was placed to the police to rescue them but they never came until a good Samaritan came and conveyed the injured to Subinso Health Center before being referred to Wenchi.
Medical Director at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, Dr. Oman, confirmed in an interview that the four accident victims were brought to the facility at about 8 o’clock pm on Saturday.
According to him, “One was in a critical condition, one declared dead before arrival at the hospital whilst two people have sustained other injuries and the one in a critical condition have been referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.”
Wenchi Police is yet to officially comment on the issue.
