The Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Ekow Afedzi has thrown a challenge to female entrepreneurs to explore opportunities on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
According to him, the Ghanaian bourse has been one of the best performing exchanges on the continent, and the best place to raise capital for business growth.
“The Ghanaian market has been doing well and I will use the opportunity to welcome all of you to come raise capital on the market” he told an all-female panel.
Ekow Afedzi was speaking at a “Ring the bell for Gender Equality” ceremony by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the GSE.
The ring the bell for gender equality is intended to highlight some provisions made by the GSE with support from the IFC to balance gender representation on the bourse.
This is also to attract more female executives onto the boards of listed companies in the country.
Deputy Managing Director of the GSE, Abena Amoah hinted that the exchange is making progress to attract women into the boardroom.
She also disclosed that the GSE is advancing on its moves to ensure that more women participate in the country’s capital market.
The move is part of measures to sustain Ghana’s status as one of the leading countries with a significant female participation in the financial sector.
