The Bono East Region Minister has charged the Lands Commission to fast track processes involved in the registration of lands as a means to resolve the increasing number of land disputes in the region.
Kwesi Adu Gyan made this call when a team from the Regional Lands Commission paid a courtesy call on him as part of measures taken to establish a regional directorate for the commission in Techiman.
According to Mr Gyan, "the move would help safeguard our public lands and we don't want what is happening in the urban areas to also happen here".
On his part, Lands Officer in charge of the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, Mohammed-Abibu Alhassan promised that steps are been taken to reduce the amount of time spent in the registration of lands.

He however called on the people to ensure that they conduct "searches" at the commission before purchasing lands.
He also added that “this would prevent the conflicts associated with the purchase of lands in the area.”
