A man and his wife were robbed at gunpoint by suspected armed robbers at Takoradi Amanful on Monday, in what has been described as daylight robbery.
According to sources, the couple has gone to the bank to withdraw some money.
Unfortunately, the robbers began trailing them after they drove away from the bank premises in their private vehicle.
Upon reaching Amanful East, a suburb of Takoradi the victims realised that they were being followed by the robbers. They counted four men who were following them on two motorbikes.
The armed men suddenly rushed on the occupants of the private car and demanded the couple hand over the money they withdrew.
While threatening the couple, the robbers shot the man twice, took the money, and ran away in the full glare of some residents.
"It was like a Holywood movie and we could not do anything about the situation. It took the police about 30 minutes to arrive at the scene", an eyewitness said.
The victims have since been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
