A total of 140 young entrepreneurs have qualified to receive investment support to fund their businesses ideas.
This is under the Innovation Creativity and Entrepreneurship, programme by the Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works initiative and the National Board for Small Scale Industries.
The 140 has been selected from a business pitching programme organized in the various regions of the country.
The Innovative Creativity and Entrepreneurship programme aims at giving training and market research ideas to beneficiaries selected from across the country by the NBSSI.
The final pitching series for the entrepreneurs in the Greater Accra Region involves twenty shortlisted beneficiaries, out of which 10 best performers will be picked.
Greater Accra Regional Director of the NBSSI, Anthea Ohene told Joy Business these finalists are going to be supported with funding and market access.
“We have our partners -the Mastercard Foundation, JICA, banks and other investors who are observing these finalists and will pick the best 10 to be supported with funds and market research activities”.
“We are impressed with the training so far and we believe that the target of creating more jobs with this initiative is on course. So far, so good for now” she said.
Municipal Chief Executive for the Adentan, Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah believes the initiative will be a game changer for many unemployed youth in the country.
The ICE programme is aimed at creating employment for about forty thousand youth within three years.
