Some 103 caregivers have been supported by SOS Ghana with grants to venture into agriculture, petty trading, among others.
The ¢123,000 support is to improve the living conditions of vulnerable families.  An additional 60 people are expected to receive the grant by the end of 2021.
SOS children's village Ghana's Family Economic and Livelihood Empowerment Programme aims to help caretakers overcome life's challenges and take good care of their children.
Without a stable and protective family, children are exposed to multiple risk factors, leaving them to neglect, abuse, discrimination and exploitation.
SOS Children's Village Ghana's Family Strengthening Programme helps families stay together through various modules.
Since 2019, the program, through its partner agencies, has helped families, among others, to build their own future.

National Director for the SOS Children's Village Ghana, Alexander Mar Kekula, said 314 families with 1,030 children have been enrolled onto the program and are currently benefiting from it.
"...68 young people in various vocations have also been put on the path of self-reliance. A total of 103 caregivers have been supported with grants amounting to ¢123,000 to either set up or expand their businesses to sustain their families” he said.
One hundred and twenty youth have received traditional, innovative employability and entrepreneurial skills training. Some of them have either obtained regular employment or set up their businesses.
The Ejisu community has been empowered to stand up for the rights of their children. The creation of five child rights clubs in communities within the area has helped address many challenges.

Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu, Beatrice Serwah Derkyi, says the assembly has been doing its best to provide support for the vulnerable in society.
“The Assembly through its social welfare and community development has been doing its best to provide support for the needy and vulnerable in the society through the livelihood empowerment against poverty programme and support for persons with disabilities’’ she noted.
Over 2,000 students have received indirect support in 8 schools while over 150 teachers received in-service training to develop their skills.
The SOS family strengthening programme is expected to provide complete economic, social, psychological, and educational support to families in the Ejisu municipality by 2023.
