Contestants for St Peter’s SHS have made a grand entrance into the semi-final stage of Eastern Regional qualifiers of the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The Friday contest, which determined who progressed to the next stage, featured three-time Champions, St Peter’s SHS, Abuakwa State College, WBM Zion SHS and Okuapeman School.
Well-noted for Biblical references, St Peter’s SHS (PERSCO) today brought the wall of Jericho down by beating its rivals with a whopping 66 points.

Abuakwa State College, WBM Zion SHS and Okuapeman School were no match for the Nkwatia Kwahu based school as Persco reigned supreme.
The three schools were unable to earn more than 20 points on the scoreboard.
Interacting with JoyNews’ Maxwell Agbagba after their victory, the Persco boys attributed their success to God Almighty.
Subscribing to the saying, “the heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps”(Proverbs 16:9), they noted that their journey to be crowned Eastern Regional Champions and subsequently, the 2021 NSMQ Champions lies in the hands of God Almighty.
“The will of God will be done so whatever God decides for us that is what we will go with. It will mean a lot and it will be the stepping stone to greater victories. We can’t make any prediction because everyone has prepared very well,” they stated.
Last year, St Peter’s SHS were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the 2020 NSMQ contest by one-time champion, Adisadel College.
With a 2-point margin, the team led by Michael Obeng, whose biblical reference “it is finished” drew much attention to the school were kicked out of the contest by the ADISCO lads.
Although this year’s contestants have displayed tenacity, they say their journey to victory cannot be achieved without the help of God Almighty.
“We are looking forward to God being with us and sending us to the grand finale,” they said.
