The National Identification Authority (NIA) has stated that persons who have challenges with their Ghana identification cards must pay 30 cedis for rectification.
The services that attract the fee of GHC30.00 are; replacement of lost or damaged cards and correction of spelling mistakes. The exercise will start on July 5.
Corporate Affairs Officer of the NIA, Dora Badu Acheampong, in an interview with Joy News, Wednesday, June 9, said offices of NIA across the country will be open for all persons with such challenges to have them fixed or replacement of lost cards, as the case may be.
"But let say, if you have changed your residential address or maybe you want to change your telephone number or make some update, that will not attract any fee," she explained.
She further revealed that the NIA will start another registration phase for the Ghana card. The exercise, she said will target persons attaining 15 years and above as well as those who failed to register in the last exercise
According to her, the NIA has so far issued over 15 million cards to applicants whiles a backlog of about 200,000 still remain to be cleared.
"From 5th July, people from 15 years and above who were not able to register for the Ghana card due to one reason or the other could go to any of our offices and register."
