The Ghana Revenue Authority is optimistic most of the problems associated with the automation process of tax payment will be addressed by July this year
“From May 1, 2021 we allowed customers to pay from the comfort of their homes. On June 1, 2021 we put measures in place to ensure that all checks are paid through the banks. The third step will be that from July 1, 2021, all cash will be paid through the banks. With June’s implementation, it has been going well except that every new thing comes with challenges at the initial stages”, Commissioner General, Reverend Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah told Joy Business
“Notwithstanding, our commitment to the automation is absolute and we’re ensuring that whatever issue that comes up will be fixed. We’ll not go back, forward we’ll go,” he said.
Meanwhile, the GRA took part in government’s Tree Planting exercise to commemorate Green Ghana Day on Friday, 11th June, 2021.
Corporate Ghana and other state institutions embraced the exercise as some planted trees across the country.
The Commissioner General said “a green environment promotes our health, a green environment reduces expenditure for medical bills and therefore we encourage all tax payers to cultivate the habit of planting. We are not only interested in revenue collection, but we’re interested in everyone joining the campaign. If we do this effectively, in the long run, it will boost the economy.”
June 11th has been marked as Green Ghana Day. This is part of the Green Ghana agenda where the nation’s target is to preserve its forest cover and the environment for generations to come.
