The Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku, has confirmed his outfit is working with political authorities to persuade Chelsea midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi to play for the Black Stars.

Though Hudson-Odoi has played three times for the English National team, he is still eligible to switch to Ghana after the eligibility rules were revised by FIFA.

According to the new FIFA rules, players can now switch national teams provided they are eligible to represent them as long as they have played no more than three matches (including friendlies), none of the matches were in the final tournament of the FIFA World Cup or confederation competition, and they all happened before the player turned 21.

Okraku admitted that the technical team is collaborating with Ghana’s government to land Hudson-Odoi.

"We’ve had discussions that have centered beyond even playing for Ghana, He has a crazy ambition of helping kids in this country, and we looking forward to working with Odoi, his entire family and many others who are very interested in representing their country.

"There are loads of them who ply their trade beyond the shores of Ghana or were born not in Ghana but interested in representing Ghana.

“We’re going to work with the technical team, We’re going to work with the political authorities to ensure that we get every big talent that has the capacity to represent our nation, Our vision is to make our Black Stars and all other national teams dominant on the African Continent," he added

The Chelsea star who chose Ghana as a holiday destination paid a courtesy on the president Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.

After that meeting Akufo-Addo called on the sports minister to find ways of getting Hudson-Odoi play for Ghana.

In a Facebook post, president Akufo-Addo said: “Amongst others, I urged the Minister for Youth and Sports to explore the possibility of having Callum switch nationality and play for the Black Stars.”

Hudson-Odoi is part of a number of UK-born players on the radar of the Black Stars, the other targets include Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and Brighton & Hove Albion fullback Tariq Lamptey.
