Two police officers are reported to have died in a road accident on the Walewale-Bolgatanga Highway.
Three other officers who were among the team are said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The officers were said to be members of the Special Anti Robbery Task Force responding to an emergency on the road when the incident occurred Thursday evening at Kareminga near Bolgatanga.

The deceased officers, including the commander of the unit, who was leading the operation before their vehicle suddenly veered off and ran into a ditch, killing the two instantly.

The accident comes as over 300 security personnel have been deployed in the municipal capital, Walewale, ahead of the final funeral rites for the late mother of Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has reached out to the families of the deceased officers, according to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service.
