Ghana Premier League winners, Accra Hearts of Oak will look to make history in the second leg of the final CAF Champions League preliminary round game against Wydad Athletic on Sunday.

W O Tandoh, who is the team manager of Hearts said on Oyerepa FM: “We are ever ready for WAC. I have told the players this an opportune time to write their names in the history of Hearts. We will beat them to qualify.”

With away goals being used as a tie-breaker, Samuel Boadu's men will just need to avoid losing by a two-goal margin.

The last time Hearts were in a similar position was in 2008 when they were knocked out of the CAF preliminary round by Gabonese side FC 105 Libreville.

With a first leg advantage and Wydad having to play behind closed doors, Hearts will see this as a good opportunity to make a return to the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time in 15 years.

It will be all to play for in Morocco with the financial reward for qualifying to the money zone sitting at a cash sum of at least $550,000.

Wydad have been in impeccable form in the domestic league this season as they top the Moroccan top flight after six games.

However, WAC have progressed only once when they fail to score an away goal in the final playoff round in the CAF Champions League.

Hearts of Oak's Raddy Ovouka trained and travelled with the team and is expected to start despite suffering an injury in the first leg. Kwadwo Obeng Jnr, who was Hearts' top scorer last season, still remains on the touchline as he recovers from injury.
